Dryfesdale Lodge and Visitor Centre
The Dryfesdale Lodge Visitor Centre alongside the Garden of Remembrance forms a memorial for the lives lost as a result of the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103.
The building not only a place of remembrance but houses an exhibitions on The Bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 and the communities forged in the years since, as well as the wider history of the Lockerbie area.

The Lodge was built in 1880 as a home for the cemetery caretaker and had subsequently been used as a store for maintaining the grounds before falling completely out of use and sitting empty for a number of years.

In 2002, the Dryfesdale Lodge Trust was formed with the goal of refurbishing the building and providing a visitor centre for visitors to the Garden of Remembrance.
Refurbishment of the Lodge was made possible due to support from Lockerbie Trust and Dumfries and Galloway Council and on October 25th, 2003, The Dryfesdale Lodge Visitor Centre officially opened.

In 2020, due to the COVID-19 restrictions, the Lodge had to close to visitor and a full redevelopment began, including ways to remotely connect with the Lodge. This blessing in disguise has seen a closer bond formed between the Dryfesdale and the international remembrance community, including Syracuse University and Victims of Pan Am 103 Inc. and both organisations are now represented on our Board of Trustees.

In 2021, with generous support from Lockerbie Trust, the windows of the Lodge were able to be replaced and other extensive and much needed building improvement work was carried out.

Just before the doors reopened to the public in in 2024, a special request was received by the Trustees when The Princess Royal HRH Princess Anne, asked is a visit to Dryfesdale Lodge and the Garden of Remembrance could be added to her official visit to Dumfries and Galloway.
